How to Play

Creating a Character:

World of Magik is currently playable on desktop in browser at https://worldofmagik.com. When you initially log into the game, you’ll be prompted to connect your wallet prior to entering your username and choosing your avatar. Your wallet address is linked to your in game character for subsequent logins.

Getting Started:

After creating your character, you’ll find yourself in the town center. You can move your character with WADS or the arrow keys, melee attack with the left mouse button and ranged attack with the right mouse button. Spells and grenades are cast with number keys (see bottom left), but only work inside of The Arena and in Dungeons.

In the top right, you’ll see a few different buttons. The treasure chest displays your equipped inventory. Hitting the “change” button under a slot will display the other equipable items in that category.

The four icons to the right of the chest open current leaderboards, key commands, volume controls, player count and bug reporting.

Underneath those icons is a display reading the number of MAGIK currently in your wallet on that particular chain. The plus sign on the left redirects to the swap aggregator Firebird.

Just below the MAGIK counter is a “lives” counter, displaying the number of server based lives currently attributed to your wallet. The plus sign on the left produces a UI to purchase lives at 1 MAGIK each for hardcore game modes.

NFT Equipment:

Rare NFT equipment can be minted at vendors in the various zones of World of Magik, won by competing in tournaments, and found on the carcasses of mobs and raid bosses. NFT items obtained in World of Magik are owned by its players, and can be traded on decentralized NFT marketplaces.

Equipment NFTs can be minted and used on any network that World of Magik supports.

The Arena (PvP game modes):

Entering the portal in the main town will take you to the Arena lobby, where you can join a number of game modes and view the hall of fame.

On the far right, you’ll find the free to play mode. Made for casual players, it’s currently set up or free for all matches which you can leave at any time. This arena may be toggled off while tournaments are occurring.

To the left of free to play, you can choose between a few different hardcore game modes. Hardcore PvP mode is full contact, requiring users to purchase lives prior to entering. Each time a player dies, they lose a life. Each time they land a killing blow, they receive just under one MAGIK (to compensate for gas fees).

Next to hardcore mode is the tournaments section. Any player may host a tournament by putting up a prize, setting a time as well as tournament duration. They can also set an entry fee to the event, or token gate it with an NFT so only their community is allowed to enter.

Upon conclusion of the event, the rewards are distributed to the winners, and the host keeps the entry fees less a protocol fee.

Factions:

Factions are the independent nation states of World of Magik. They are built around a players’ allegiance to a group, and grants access to events, equipment and content exclusive to that faction.

The mechanics for decentralized faction creation are still in development.

Tournaments:

Free to play and incentivized tournaments can be hosted by players and factions alike in the “events'' section of the arena. There is an interface to toggle between start times, duration, prize, entry fee, network and NFT gating that will ultimately be accessible for anyone to use.

The wallet that submits the prize can collect the fees entered into that tournament, less a protocol fee.
